1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SOYTRN website, applications, and related services at SOYTRN.com and the SOYTRN web app (collectively, the “Service”), operated as a joint venture by Precarious Press LLC, a New York limited liability company, and Lu31 LLC, a New York limited liability company (together, “SOYTRN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Definitions

“Account Holder,” “you,” or “your” means the adult who registers for and controls a SOYTRN account.
“Child Profile” means a profile the Account Holder creates for a child to use the child player.
“Whitelist” means the set of YouTube channels the Account Holder approves for a Child Profile.
“Content” means videos, thumbnails, titles, and other materials made available through the Service via YouTube.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child who will use a Child Profile. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate. The Service is intended to be operated by adults; children may use only the PIN-locked child player, under your supervision and control.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and any PIN you set, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@soytrn.com of any unauthorized use.

4. Description of the Service

SOYTRN is a parent-controlled video player. You choose YouTube channels from our curated list or by pasting a channel link, and add them to Whitelists for one or more Child Profiles. The child player displays only the Content you have approved — with no search bar, no recommendations (locked from external links), no autoplay beyond the approved list, and no ability to extend viewing time without your PIN. Features, profile limits, and capabilities depend on your subscription tier and may change over time. At signup, you also provide a screen name, birth year, and country. Each Child Profile stores a name, age range, and country. Device pairing. When you pair your child's device, we store a secure token (only as a one-way hash) that lets that device open your approved channels. You can revoke it at any time, and it is revoked automatically if a free trial ends without a plan.

5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Free Trials

Plans. We offer a free trial and paid plans for up to 2 or up to 5 child profiles, billed monthly or yearly. The features and limits of each plan are described at checkout and in our pricing section.
Free trials. New accounts get a 7-day free trial; no payment method is required. One free trial per person: an email address (including variations of it) that has already had a trial is not eligible for another trial. If no plan is chosen by the end of the trial, access to the Service is paused, and any paired child devices are disconnected until a plan is selected. After choosing a plan, child devices must be paired again. No data is deleted. To limit free trials to one per person, when an account is created, we store a one-way cryptographic fingerprint of its email address in normalized form (ignoring letter case, anything after a "+" sign, and dots in Gmail addresses). It cannot be turned back into your email address and is not linked to any other information. We keep it after you delete your account, solely to prevent the same email address from starting another free trial. We never use it for marketing, selling, or sharing.
Payment. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe and us to charge your payment method for the applicable fees, taxes, and recurring charges.
Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until canceled. A reminder email is sent to the users to alert them of the upcoming payment. You may cancel at any time through the self-serve Stripe billing portal.
- Monthly plans: cancellation takes effect at the end of the current monthly billing period, and you keep access until then.
- Yearly plans: cancellation takes effect immediately, and we refund the unused portion of your year (see Refunds).
Price changes. We may change prices; we will give you advance notice as required by law, and changes apply to the next billing period.
Refunds. Refunds apply only to yearly plans. Monthly plans are non-refundable. If you cancel a monthly plan, it stays active until the end of the current month. If you delete your account, your monthly plan ends immediately. Yearly plans: if you cancel your plan or delete your account, your plan ends immediately, and we refund the unused portion of your year, calculated from the moment of cancellation or deletion, to your original payment method.
Except as required by law, no other refunds or credits are provided.

6. Parental Responsibility and Content

You are solely responsible for the Content you approve and make available to a child through a Whitelist and for supervising your child's use of the Service. While SOYTRN is designed to show a child only videos from the channels you have approved, we do not pre-screen, endorse, or guarantee the appropriateness of any third-party Content, and video availability and content on YouTube can change at any time without notice. You are responsible for reviewing channels before approving them and for periodically reviewing your Whitelists.

7. YouTube Terms and Restrictions

The Service uses YouTube API Services and the YouTube embedded player. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms, and you acknowledge that Google's use of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:

download, copy, store, or redistribute any video Content except as expressly permitted by YouTube;
block, disable, remove, or interfere with advertisements, branding, or other elements displayed by the YouTube player;
separate Content from the YouTube player or play it other than through the standard embedded player; or
use the Service in any way that violates the YouTube Terms of Service or applicable law.

Content is provided by YouTube and its content owners. We do not own the Content and are not responsible for its availability, accuracy, or removal.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Without limiting the foregoing, you will not:

use the Service other than as an adult parent or guardian managing content for children in your care;
share, resell, or provide access to your account except to co-parents or guardians of the same children;
attempt to bypass the PIN lock, security, or usage limits of the Service;
reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code or data except as permitted by law;
upload or transmit malware, or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Service; or
use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, or harmful purpose.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content created by us (but excluding third-party Content sourced from YouTube), is owned by the Operators — Precarious Press LLC and Lu31 LLC — and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial family use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

“SOYTRN” and our logos are our trademarks. “YouTube” and related marks are trademarks of Google LLC; SOYTRN is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates third-party services, including YouTube/Google, Supabase, Stripe, and our hosting provider. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and disclaim liability for their acts or omissions.

11. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, third-party outages (including YouTube API quota limits or downtime), or events beyond our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT IS ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE. YOU ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR SELECTING AND SUPERVISING THE CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATORS AND THEIR MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Operators and their members, managers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your Content selections, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide notice as appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration provision below, you agree that any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Westchester, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

Arbitration and class-action waiver. Except for claims that may be brought in small-claims court, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by [arbitration provider] under its rules, rather than in court. You and SOYTRN waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action. You may opt out of this arbitration provision within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@soytrn.com.

18. General Provisions

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
